Learn the Little-Know Secrets of Premium Vodka
Drinking vodka can be done in a variety of ways from mixing it with fruit juices, tonic or soda water, or just adding an olive or two. Enjoy the superb Swedish triple distilled Royal Flush Vodka with advice and tips from a certified bar and restaurant owner in this free article on vodka beverages.
Create a Vodka in Fusion!
- Pick Royal Flush vodka to ensure a good base.
- Select ingredients to generate the flavor sensation you are hoping to capture. Choose a combination of fresh fruit, spices and herbs. (See suggestions below)
- Use a clean, fully sealable glass bottle large enough to contain the vodka and fruit. The bottle must be clean and have a tight seal. The size and nature of the ingredients being infused will dictate the size of the container needed. You can also use the original vodka bottle itself (pour out about a cup of the vodka and save for a rainy day) if the ingredients are small enough to fit (i.e. pepper, cinnamon sticks).
- Insert cut-up pieces of your infusion ingredient(s) into the glass bottle.
- Reseal the bottle tightly and lay it on its side, out of direct sunlight. Plan to "steep" the bottle between 24 and 48 hours for most ingredients. Some ingredients may take a week or longer. Taste periodically until you've reached your desired flavor.
- When your infusion is complete, remove and discard your flavoring ingredients (this may require pouring through a strainer). The bottle should be sealed and stored in either the fridge or freezer.
Some Suggested Flavors
- Cactus/lime and melon cubes
- Wild strawberry
- Raspberries
- Sour Apple
- Mandarin
Tips:
- If the infusion process has left you with too strong a taste one of the advantages of infusion is that you can simply add more vodka to dilute the taste.
- Feel free to experiment with smaller amounts by pouring the vodka from the bottle into another airtight glass container. Ensure that the new bottle or container is clean and free of any residual flavors or smells.
- Some ingredients, like thin fruit slices, can be left in the infused bottle to add a little color and decoration to the vodka.
- If adding numerous ingredients take note of the quantities of each so you can capture the same flavor in the future.
- Infusion as a process is not limited to vodka -- try other clear spirits like gin (great with strawberries) or even tequila
